Returning to Florida for the second round of the prestigious Formula Kart Productions Florida Winter Tour, Team PSL Karting was once again seen at the front of the pack. Continuing their trend of pole positions, race wins and podium finishes, PSL drivers were able to tackle the challenging 7/10-mile, permanent parking lot Homestead Karting facility. Set in the shadow of the famed Homestead-Miami Speedway, PSL continued their successful season to date during Formula Kart weekend action with two wins and two additional podiums with their seven-member team.

Coming off a strong debut weekend in the shifter ranks, Nicholas Latifi was a dominating force in Open Shifter on Saturday. Earning pole position with his quick lap during qualifying, Latifi went on to take the prefinal win and fastest race lap during an exciting 16-lap race. With the top three karts passing for the lead lap after lap, Latifi took the point for good with a few flyers to go and secured pole position for the day's final. A difficult standing start for the final saw the two-time Team Canada member lose a few positions, but Latifi quickly made his way back towards the front. Battling with the leader until about the halfway point, Latifi then began to pull away as he cruised to a six second win to complete his sweep of the day. Alex Manglass joined Latifi as PSL representatives on the Open Shifter podium, as the New York resident enjoyed a third place finish in the day's race. Josh Adams posted an unfortunate DNF, while the fourth Team PSL shifter pilot Etienne LaSalle did not start the final.

Back on track Sunday for the second day of the doubleheader weekend, the PSL pilots were again at the top of the sheets, this time with Manglass earning the coveted pole position. Latifi however was right on his heels, only 0.088 off his teammate. Third and fourth place runs for Manglass and Latifi respectively in the prefinal set the stage for the two CRG drivers' final event of the weekend. Manglass jumped to second off the line at the drop of the green for the final and maintained his position until the halfway point when the leader suffered an engine seizure. Having to take evasive action, Manglass slowed considerably as Latifi closed the gap and went for the lead. A slight miscue during the pass caused Latifi to make contact with his teammate, but Manglass was able to recover and earn another podium finish to round out his Homestead effort. Latifi held onto the lead and was able to go two-for-two on the weekend, his third straight shifter win. Adams posted a DNS in the final, while LaSalle added to Team PSL Karting's efforts with a nice fifth place run.

Pedro Tavarez de Moraes Cardoso made his name known in the hotly contested Vortex TaG Cadet category in Homestead. Posting second in the morning warm-up on Saturday, the Brazilian went on to post fourth in qualifying among the field of 27 karts. Matching that effort in the prefinal race, Cardoso fell to fifth in the final, still a great effort in this talent-laden class. On Sunday, Cardoso posted seventh and ninth in qualifying and the prefinal on his way to a podium finish in the final. Holding off a hard-charging competitor, Cardoso crossed the stripe in third to add to PSL's tally for the weekend. Gianfranco Mazzaferro also contested the TaG Cadet category and posted two solid final results, improving from 15th on Saturday to finish eighth in Sunday's main event.

"Pedro drove exceptionally despite some carburetion issues in qualifying and the prefinal," noted PSL Karting USA Sales Manager and tuner/coach Andrew Campbell. "Again this talented Brazilian driver was able to prove he is a strong competitor in an ultra-challenging class."

In TaG Junior, Austin Versteeg continued in his debut season in the junior ranks. Posting 14th and 12th place results in the finals were not the results the Utah resident had hoped for, but Versteeg is sure to battle hard this coming week in the Rotax Max Challenge action.

"I feel the entire PSL Karting USA team put forth another excellent effort," added PSL Karting President Dominic Labrecque. "Now we will turn our focus to the Rotax weekend and continue to claim as many podiums as possible!"

PSL branded drivers will return to the Homestead complex this weekend February 17-19 for the Rotax portion of the Florida Winter Tour. Coming off strong results at the season opener in Palm Beach, PSL team members will work to keep their CRG chassis at the front of the field and add to their overall win and podium tally in the quest for overall series titles and ultimate bragging rights.

Team PSL Karting will be trackside in 2012 at the Florida Winter Tour, Pan American Rotax Max Challenge, Eastern Canadian Karting Championship, Quebec Cup, Le Monaco de Trois-Rivieres, United States Grand Nationals, ASN Canada FIA Canadian National Karting Championships, Pan American Championship and SKUSA SuperNationals.
