March 28, 2017 (Mooresville, NC) — Modena Engines USA started its season off with a bang at the opening round of the F-Series Gearup Challenge, which took place March 25-26 at the GoPro Motorplex track in Mooresville, NC. The brand boasted 10 drivers on board the Modena shifter engine package, in a field of 30 shifter drivers, with Rory Van der Steur making an outstanding final finish in 2nd place and setting the new track record by 4 tenths of a second.

Van der Steur, with a CPI Racing built-and- tuned Modena KK1 package, was a force to be reckoned with throughout the weekend. The shifter driver qualified pole by over 3 tenths of a second, and took the win in Race 1 by over half a second. In the final, van der Steur fought hard to maintain the top position but was edged out by just under half a second. Still, the KZ driver displayed the power and performance of the Modena engine, sitting up front nearly all weekend and setting a new track record for shifter at the GoPro Motorplex track.

With nearly one half of the KZ shifter pack on Modena, the brand also had drivers Robbie Bujdoso and Jason Alden rounding out the top 10 with 8th and 9th place in the final, respectively. The brand has seen increased numbers from last year, with even more drivers taking notice after the weekend’s track record and podium finish. The Italian-manufactured engine is imported and distributed by CPI Racing, and Davis also builds and tunes the motor packages as well.

Modena Engines USA will be next seen at Round 2 of the F-Series Gearup Challenge. If you are interested in getting on board a Modena engine package, contact Phil Davis at or 301-667- 1320.
